D-Link DEM-CB100QXS Compatible 40G QSFP+ 1m Passive Direct Attach Copper Cable
This 40G QSFP+ twinax cable is a lower-cost replacement for the D-Link DEM-CB100QXS. It provides a 40 Gigabit link between QSFP+ ports over very short distances, and carries a maximum aggregate rate of 40 Gb/s across four 10 Gb/s lanes.
The cable is programmed to work with a wide range of D-Link 40GE switches, routers, network interface cards and storage systems, so the port recognises it at plug-in with no extra configuration. Being passive it needs no power beyond the host port and adds almost no latency, drawing a maximum of 1.5 W.
At 1 metre it suits intra-rack connections in a data centre, spine to leaf or switch to server, at a fraction of the cost of a pair of 40G optical modules with a fibre patch lead. Note the 30 mm minimum bend radius: QSFP+ twinax is thicker and stiffer than 10G SFP+ cable, so allow a little more room behind the rack.
QSFP+ is a larger connector than SFP+ and the two are not interchangeable. This cable fits 40G QSFP+ ports only.
