Product Description
This pen type visual fault locator is built for field technicians who need an efficient, economical tool for fiber tracing, routing, and continuity checking in optical networks. It locates breakpoints, poor connections, bends, and cracks in fiber optic cable, finds faults inside an OTDR dead zone, and supports end to end visual fiber identification.
The locator launches 650nm visible laser light into the fiber. Where the light meets a break or sharp bend, it scatters, and that scattered light is visible through the cable jacket. Because it works right up to the connector, it can find breaks in short patch cords that an OTDR misses due to its dead zone, and it does so at a much lower cost than an OTDR. It is not recommended for use with dark colored or armored cables.
The locator runs in either continuous wave (CW) or pulsed mode. Pulsed mode helps locate faults in high ambient light and extends battery life. It also checks connector quality. A connector may look perfect, but poor gluing or contamination inside the ferrule can create a micro bend that adds insertion or return loss and can lead to premature connector failure. As the light passes through, it emerges from the suspect connector and any distortion shows up as a series of rings over the normal output. Bending or twisting the fiber changes the overall intensity but not the ring pattern itself.

Returns Policy
You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
